Vehicle/Workplace Injuries

North American Spine and Pain is ready to help patients who have been involved in a workplace or personal injury.

The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body and is the junction point of five nerve roots from the lower spine. Sciatica pain often radiates down through your leg and can be a sharp or burning sensation.

Spinal Stenosis

Spinal stenosis occurs when pressure is applied to nerves in the spine. Stenosis is usually caused by a growth or herniated disc and can also be caused by trauma such as a car accident. Untreated spinal stenosis can result in permanent complications.

Herniated Disc

Discs in the spine are positioned in between each vertebra. A hernia can occur when the disc moves through an opening in the annulus. Symptoms such as burning and swelling will occur if the herniated disc compresses a nerve root.

Degenerated Disc

Degeneration of spinal discs occur overtime due to ‘wear and tear’ on the body. Your discs help you move around, bend over, etc. As you get older, your discs will too. Sharp pain in your back and/or neck could be degenerative disc disease.

Shoulder Pain

Common causes of shoulder pain include but are not limited to: Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Tendonitis, a previous injury, or Cervical Radiculopathy (radiating pain from the spine through the arm – also known as a pinched nerve).

Extremity Pain

You may be experiencing pain in only your shoulder and may be surprised to learn it could come from an issue in your spine. Radicular pain derives from a compression or inflammation from the spinal nerve and causes numbness, weakness or burning in the extremity.

Hip Pain

There is no shortage of causes of hip pain. The glutes are the strongest muscles in the body, but overtime those muscles like any other can experience discomfort that derive from general wear and tear.

Knee Pain

Knee injuries are complex and can keep you off your feet if not treated correctly. An injury or an underlying condition like Arthritis is usually what causes knee pain.

Pelvic Pain

Aimed at treating pain in and around the pelvic or groin area, a ganglion of impar injection is a sympathetic block to determine if the pain is derived from the injection site or is sympathetically medicated. This procedure is typically performed twice for confirmation.

Another type of RFA , genicular nerve ablations are used to treat osteoarthritis in the knee. The procedure is minimally invasive and can provide adequate relief for patients.

Coccyx Pain

Coccyx (also known as your tailbone) is the very small but very essential to pelvic movement, especially in women. Your coccyx experiences wear and tear when weight is applied, usually when sitting.

Nerve Injuries

Nerve injuries can be the result of serious trauma requiring immediate emergency care or could derive from a long-term untreated musculoskeletal issue. The longer you wait to treat a nerve issue, the less likely the nerves will recover adequately.

SPRAINS involve injured tissue/bands that connect TWO BONES together.
STRAINS are when the connection between a bone and a muscle is disrupted. Both can heal with time and therapy, and a doctor’s help.

Tendinitis can occur in sports or during repetitive movement and use of one or more joints. Athletes like baseball pitchers can develop tendinitis more frequently than the average person.

Sports-Related Injuries

Other sports related injuries for patients of any age can be treated at North American Spine and Pain!
