Knows how the system works
Decades directing case management inside both hospitals and insurers — useful when care needs coordinating, not just prescribing.
A bit about Kathleena Cohen.
Kathleena Cohen has been a nurse since 1989 — more than three decades spanning emergency and critical care, rehabilitation, case management, and nursing leadership.
The thread closest to this work is rehabilitation and return to function. As a catastrophic care manager, Kathleena coordinated care for injured workers across the whole arc of recovery — therapy, ergonomic assessment, job analysis — with one goal: getting someone back to their occupation without further injury. They hold certification in rehabilitation nursing alongside family nurse practice, case management, medical-surgical, and disaster management.
Much of their career was spent running things — director of nursing at Hampton Behavioral Health Center, director of case management and home care at Cooper University Hospital, and director of acute case management at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield. That background is unusually useful on the patient's side of the desk: someone who has managed care from inside hospitals and inside insurers knows how to move a plan of care through a system that does not always cooperate.
Kathleena completed a post-master's DNP in family nurse practice at the University of Massachusetts, graduating summa cum laude, and a doctorate in women's health nursing practice in 2024. They have taught clinical nursing as an adjunct professor at Rutgers–Camden and Rowan College at Burlington County.
